How to Drive Traffic to Your Web Site With Incoming Links

Getting links

Links are now one of the most important factors for search engine optimization, especially for Google and Yahoo. 7

Long-term high search engine rankings requires not only getting initial links but continuously growing the number of links to your site. Google doesn't want to see you getting tons of links immediately, and then getting no new links after that.

Want to get high search engine ranking as fast as possible? Get more traffic? More sales?

Today, getting incoming links to your sites is the best way to get good search engine positioning. More incoming links means better search engine ranking, more traffic and more sales.

1. Use specialized linking software

Manually requesting links is very time consuming and many people never get around to it.

There is a lot of linking software. 3 Way Links is one of the best. 3waylinks provides an easy way to get backlinks and improve your search engine positioning.

3-way-links The concept of 3 way links is sound. 3 way links provides a linking system where your site A links to site B, which links to site C, which links to you, and it's all done automatically. To the search engines, this looks like incoming links (not reciprocal links).

With 3WayLinks, You get 250 incoming one-way links from other members of the network to up to 50 sites, and in turn you upload a page to your site with one way links to other sites in the network.

Joining 3WayLinks is the easiest way to quickly get your site ranked fast for your keywords. See my detailed review of 3 Way Links here.

2. Get links from Directory Submissions

  • Directories won't give you much traffic today but they will give you links and they will improve your search engine ranking.
  • It can take months to be listed in DMOZ and it's impossible to be listed for some categories.
  • Do NOT have Adsense ads running when submitting to Yahoo.
  • Pay to get included in other major directories: looksmart.com, business.com, joeant.com, zeal.com, goguides.org, gimpsy.com, skaffe.com and others.
  • Other directories.
  • To avoid spam email, create a new email to use for directory submissions but one that includes your domain name.

3. Article Marketing - Get links from articles submissions

(In addition to links, you'll also get traffic from article marketing)

  • Get ongoing links from article submission.
  • Write 500-700 word articles that include keywords.
  • Submit regularly.
  • Use anchor text in your signature/author box.
  • Point links to inside pages of web site - not the home page.
  • Submit articles linking to different pages.
  • Vary anchor text. Use different keywords in signature to link (to optimize for different keywords). e.g., snake tips, pet snakes, snake video (see sample below)
  • You'll get links from article submission sites where you submit articles PLUS from the sites that publish your article.

Articles will give you credibility and traffic. Write and submit your articles everywhere. The more people who see your name floating around in your niche, the more people who trust you as a knowledgeable expert in your field, and the more people who'll go to your web site when they're looking to help solve their problems.

Submit articles to mailing list

Use automated submission service. The article submission service I recommend is Article Marketer. Sign up for Article Marketer here.

You submit your article to them and they submit to mailing lists and web sites.

(iSnare is also good but more expensive)

In addition to using an article submission service like Article Marketer, I recommend submitting manually to www.ezinearticles.com.

Submit a minimum of 2 articles/week for the first month, then submit 2-4 articles per month.  If you have a limited amount of articles, it's better to submit 1-2 month, than to run out of them.

5. Get links from press releases

  • Press releases will give you links (and traffic)
  • Rewrite an article to give it a newsly feel.
  • Write in 3rd person.
  • Direct the reader to your site in your resource box.
  • Submit press release.
  • Use paid online press releases. You can submit for free but paid submission will give you better results. For $30-$120 you can get your press release distributed to 1000s of sites.
  • Recommendations: PRWeb and PRLeap. PRWeb is the most popular one. They have a free service and a paid one. PRWeb allows you to include images and videos. I recommend creating a resource box/signature which is a blurb that goes at the end of the article. Include your main keyword in it - that gives you links - that's one of the main reasons for doing an online press release. And don't forget to include a call to action.

6. Link exchanges

I wouldn't bother with soliciting link exchanges anymore (unless you have contacts with some important web sites in your field that may get your traffic and credibility).

Google does not value that reciprocal links much anymore. Google wants to see one-way links (or at least what it believes are one-way links).

Instead I would use the other methods mentioned here, including article marketing, getting links from social networking sites, getting links from the paid submission sites, and submitting press releases)

Linking works! It's one of the most important parts of search engine optimization and it's one of the best ways today to improve your search engine position.
